Christian Nursing 101: A Global Heart for Nursing

LargeRollover.00005217-201807000-00000.CVIn this article I share ways nurses can share their global heart in nursing.

I will share with you my most recent prayer petitions for my global colleagues and patients:

The miraculous rescue of the soccer team and coach trapped inside a cave for 2 weeks in Thailand. There were medical teams, including nurses, at the cave site providing health care services to the divers during the planning stages of the rescue. Then, of course, once the boys and their coach were out of the cave, they provided EMS care en route to the hospital and at t hospital.

All 12 boys and soccer coach rescued

Besides the world-wide prayers that went out for the boys, the coach, and the rescue teams. This was also an opportunity to pray for our colleagues diligently working to save lives and restore health.

Share how you extend your nursing heart to our global colleagues.

Get on the Bible Bus…

There is a wonderful Bible Teaching that “takes the whole Word to the whole world”–Through the Bible Radio by Dr. J Vernon McGee.  Many years ago, I found the radio program when I was seeking to truth and meaning in my personal life. Yes, these were my pre-Christian days. As I drove to my early morning Anatomy and Physiology classes, I would listen to the program on the radio. Shortly there after, I became a Christian and continued to soak up the rich, biblical focused teaching. As an ex-Mormon, receiving sound Bible teaching was so important to me. I was replacing false teachings with the Living Truth and Word.

Years went by, schedules and life changed and I depended upon Bible studies, Sunday Sermons, and my husband’s theology degree to feed my hunger for the Word.  Lately, with my increasing commute time, I was looking for something to listen to while driving to work. Low-and-behold I stumbled onto the TTB app and began listening again. I was welcomed by the same comforting, yet firm voice of Dr. J. Vernon McGee.  His love for the Bible, Jesus, and Christians around the world continues today, even though he has went home to the Lord. His legacy is living on through his teachings, writings, and vibrant passion for the Word.

At this point in my life, I am into marinating in the Word. I have done the 1 year reading plans and that is like sprinting through a buffet. The 5 year plan is scheduled so that I can study, almost chapter-by-chapter, and stroll through the word, picking up priceless nuggets along the way.

Another facet of the Through the Bible ministry I enjoy is the international outreach. Dr. McGee teachings are translated into over 100 languages and shared globally. There are so many ways people can study the word of God: online, the TTB app, the solar mp3 player, and a thumbdrive with all the recordings. Additional to the consistent teaching is global prayer. For we all know, that without prayer and the movement of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives, the Word is less effective.  This is solidified through the letters shared regularly on the program. I am encouraged by hearing how the Lord consistently brings people to the gospel.

I would encourage you to check the website out and find a way to hop on the Bible Bus as we make our way through all 66 books of the Bible. Here is a link to the website. Through The Bible Radio
